Essential Responsibilities:
As a Buyer, you will:
- Analyze, understand, and convert MRP messages to raw material purchase orders and plans to meet production/forecast demand
- Experience using ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
- Identify and react to short term material plans that do not meet customer requirements
- Interface with production, sales, purchasing, and suppliers in order to schedule purchase orders of raw material
- Host supplier calls and in-person meetings when supplier performance is not meeting expectations
- Need good strategic thinking skills to predict issues and respond before there is downtime due to shortages
- Work with Quality and Supplier Quality to drive resolution on manufacturing material quality and supply issues
- Manage safety stock levels to minimize downtime due to shortages and not overly inflate inventory
- Implement and manage supplier VMI programs including EDI to reduce inventory
- Assist with cycle counting and yearly physical inventory
Qualifications/Requirements:
- High School Diploma / GED
- Minimum of 1 year of purchasing experience (electronics industry) with material planning experience using MRP, ERP
Desired Characteristics:
- More years of electronic component buying experience is a plus
- Prior experience in production control or planning, sourcing and/or material control environment (electronics industry preferred)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and establish effective work priorities
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills – PivotTable, VLOOKUP, etc.
- APICS CPIM and or ISM CPM Certification
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
