What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal position at GE?
Role Summary:
This is a legal position requiring subject matter expertise in insurance and/or reinsurance for life and health insurance companies. The Corporate Paralegal will assist the business to comply with existing and new federal and state laws and regulations by performing legal research, assisting attorneys in legal matters, and creating and filing selected regulatory filings.Essential Responsibilities:
- Prepare confidentiality and other agreements with attorney supervision
- Assist attorneys with fact-finding or investigations for internal and/or external matters
- Provide backup and support for review of and response to policyholder and regulatory complaints
- Provide backup and support for creating and maintaining corporate records
- Conduct legal research and drafting as requested
- Identify relevant legal articles, laws and judicial decisions for the business
- Successfully complete special projects and other assignments as requested
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Paralegal certification
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred but at a minimum, completion of an Associate’s Degree
- Minimum of five years paralegal experience in life and health insurance related field

- Proven ability to work effectively in an independent setting
- Very strong written word and oral comprehension and analytical ability
- Personal computer literate. Willing to learn and able to use computerized legal research tools such as Westlaw, and office tools such as Microsoft Office, Word and Power Point.
- Strong on time management and able to manage deadlines.
- Prior law firm or insurance experience
