Job Description Summary

The Senior Technical Controller will be responsible for making technical accounting conclusions on unique or complex transactions, maintaining Aerospace accounting policies, preparing impairment analyses, and advising on financial reporting requirements. The Senior Technical Controller will provide training and guidance to Aerospace Controllership on changes to financial accounting standards and Aerospace accounting policies. The Senior Technical Controller will work closely with the Aerospace operating segments, Financial Close & Reporting, FP&A, Treasury, Tax, and Investor Relations to ensure US GAAP and statutory accounting principles are followed. The Senior Technical Controller will advise on accounting implications of potential transactions to senior management. Lastly, the Senior Technical Controller will be asked to use Lean to continuously improve accounting operations through policy simplification.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

• Preparation of annual periodic segment reporting memos.
• Merger & acquisition, held for sale, and disposition accounting support.
• Manage external auditor requests.
• Assist in performing GE Accounting conventions assessment (annual).
• Benchmark accounting treatment with peer companies.
• Prepare annual impairment analyses.  This includes goodwill, long lived assets, and capitalized software.
• Monitor proposed accounting standard updates and analyze potential financial reporting implications.
• Prepare assigned portions of 10-Q and 10-K documents.
• Research accounting guidance to provide technical accounting conclusions on unusual business transactions and related external reporting requirements.
• Maintain GE Aerospace accounting policies, GE GAPs, and MAPs.
• Establish SAB99 thresholds and review SAB99 memos.
• Review key accounting assumptions used that could materially change GE Aerospace’s financial statements.  This includes actuarial assumptions, EHS specialist reports, goodwill valuations, etc.  Provide inputs to third party specialists where necessary.
• Assist in other assigned technical accounting projects.
• Drive simplification projects by using Lean.
• The salary range for this position is 123,800 to 206,400 An offer to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. • Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 10 years of related professional experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with technical accounting (including public accounting).
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
• CPA, MBA, or equivalent designation.
• Aerospace and Defense industry experience.
• Ability to analyze financial and operational data to draw conclusions by referencing accounting guidance and Aerospace accounting policies.
• Ability to prioritize multiple concurrent projects and work effectively under strict time constraints.
• Strong interpersonal skills: ability to effectively interact with the stakeholders.
• Knowledge and experience with GE Aerospace reporting systems to validate results agree to accounting conclusions.
• Experience in public accounting (e.g., big 4 experience preferred) or in a global business environment with sound understanding of global process and transactional flows.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong PC skills - specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
