Demand Planner

Description

Gelest, Inc., part of the Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation, is seeking a Demand Planner to join our growing Supply Chain team.

Demand planning is a supply chain management process that enables a company to project future requirements and successfully customize company outputs. The Demand Planner will be responsible for effectively using forecasting techniques to accurately predict market trends, customer behaviors, and inventory strategies that align with Gelests company goals and objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Subject matter expert in understanding predictable requirements of top customers behaviors for a strategic rolling 12-month period.

• Assist in the coordination and executing monthly sales and operations planning (S&OP) meetings.

• Work with Sales, Finance and Operations cross-functionally to bring market trends, customer requirements, and inventory strategy initiatives to fruition.

• Review and validate item forecasts for new product introduction (NPI), existing and slow moving / discontinued products.

• Validate the effectiveness of previous, current, and future forecast data in achieving targets.

• Assist in effectively communicating strategic S&OP plans and performance across key stakeholders and executives.

• Communicate forecasts to internal Gelest customers in real-time fashion.

• Assist in prioritizing production based on supply chain deficits, product demand and sale forecasts.

• Build and manage the inputs of the demand forecast in comparison to the budget.

• Implement solutions to improve demand forecast accuracy.

• Monitor Supply Chain KPI's (Key Performance Indicators) such as the mean absolute percent error (MAPE).

• Update sales forecast in real-time to achieve a favorable IAR (Information Action Ratio).

• Provide actionable data analysis to support business cases for demand plans using data-driven methods.

• Work with cross functional teams to support revenue and profitability targets, while optimizing inventory levels.

• Supply Chain super user for DEACOM, Power BI,SalesForce and other tools defined by the organization.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Sales, Supply Chain, or related field.

• Minimum 2-3 years of demand forecasting preferred.

• Experience and knowledge of ERP concepts.

• Demonstrate the ability to lead cross-functional meetings in a collaborative fashion.

• Good coordination and organizational abilities.

• Excellent communication and people skills.

• Proactive and forward thinking related to business assumptions.

• Good computer skills, especially working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.

• Good decision-making skills.

• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Experience and understanding of the Periodic Chemistry Table is a plus.
