Lab Automation Associate – job description
Role: This position works with robotics and automation systems in our DNA sequencing labs.
Essential Duties include:
- Write automation programs by interpreting requirements as designated
- Troubleshoot technical issues that arise in a clinical production environment
- Work with vendors to facilitate instrument maintenance and performance monitoring
- Assist lab personnel in developing contingency plans for implementation during instrument downtime
- Provide basic software and hardware training to end users
- Aid in validation efforts of newly developed workflows
Qualifications include:
- BS degree in Biology/Engineering/CompSci or related field
- Technically competent and personable with a diverse group of scientists
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
- Familiarity with laboratory techniques in biochemistry and molecular biology
- Experience with laboratory automation, methods development, programming, and genomics preferred
- Experience with NGS sample prep, Sanger sequencing, or Microarray workflows is preferred
- Essential on-site and Customer-facing employees must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination; medical or religious exemptions considered.
