Lab Automation Associate – job description

Role: This position works with robotics and automation systems in our DNA sequencing labs.

Essential Duties include:

• Write automation programs by interpreting requirements as designated
• Troubleshoot technical issues that arise in a clinical production environment
• Work with vendors to facilitate instrument maintenance and performance monitoring
• Assist lab personnel in developing contingency plans for implementation during instrument downtime
• Provide basic software and hardware training to end users
• Aid in validation efforts of newly developed workflows

Qualifications include:

• BS degree in Biology/Engineering/CompSci or related field
• Technically competent and personable with a diverse group of scientists
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
• Familiarity with laboratory techniques in biochemistry and molecular biology
• Experience with laboratory automation, methods development, programming, and genomics preferred
• Experience with NGS sample prep, Sanger sequencing, or Microarray workflows is preferred
• Essential on-site and Customer-facing employees must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination; medical or religious exemptions considered.
