Under close supervision, this position is responsible for evaluating and resolving engineering production issues related to manufacturing, design, quality, and material engineering. Analyzes, investigates, and provides solutions to a variety of technical problems.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports manufacturing process development / implementation to improve safety, enhance Quality/ Yield, reduce Cost, and improve Productivity/Schedule. Helps facilitate lean manufacturing process improvement projects.
- Helps implement equipment and processes including efficient layout and optimization of material and information flows.
- Assists with labor standards, lead times, and capacities/capabilities for manufacturing and ancillary processes.
- Assists with work instructions and other documentation associated with manufacturing and ancillary processes.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering during prototype, development and first article manufacturing.
- Supports and collaborates with shop floor technicians to solve manufacturing problems.
- Clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and in written form to both technical and non-technical audiences, especially regarding manufacturing processes, engineering issues and proposed changes, and quality issues and dispositions.
- Assists with Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events
- Maintains shop floor metrics that align with leadership defined KPI’s
- Design, implement, and audit manufacturing 5S processes.
- Supporting part flow through expediting efforts where required.

Job Qualifications:
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
- Must have basic knowledge of production and engineering support principles, theories and concepts; an understanding of practices, techniques, and standards allied in the field; working knowledge and experience of Lean Manufacturing principles; and knowledge of tool design and concepts.
- Must be customer focused and possess:
- Ability to participate in the development of new concepts and communicate and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
- Organization skills to coordinate work phases.
- Ability to determine the appropriate approach at the task or project level and provide solutions to a variety of technical problems.
- Good communication, documentation, presentation and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of employees and management.
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Good computer skills.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
- Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP desirable).
- Basic CAD design experience (floor layout and small tooling preferred).
- Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma Manufacturing methodologies for waste reduction and their application in a manufacturing environment.
