The successful candidate for the Accuracy Control Engineer position will join the Accuracy Control & Optical Tool group supporting construction at the Groton facility, a dynamic and fast-paced work environment requiring prompt and technically sound dimensional control support for shipyard work.
The Accuracy Control & Optical Tool team is responsible for the execution of dimensional control requirements via gathering and processing of as-built data. These data are used to develop cut lines, align and install ship components, support machining operations and fabrication work, pair major modules and support ship certification.
The job requires the Engineer to develop configuration controlled dimensional control documents and procedures, work with Technicians to determine the proper tooling for the job, work with Technicians to review site conditions for 3-dimensional surveys, and process as-built data for further shipyard direction or reporting, while working safely and with a high degree of accuracy. Engineers routinely interface with the Technicians, other engineering groups, Operations groups, Ship’s Management and other shipyards. Therefore, the successful candidate must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
The successful candidate must be willing to travel occasionally to support ship schedules.
