What are the responsibilities and job description for the Software Engineer Associate position at General Dynamics Information Technology?
GDIT is seeking a Software Engineer Associate to support automated test script development for the Battlefield Air Operations (BAO) software suite. The goal of the BAO software is to improve the performance of the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) Special Tactics (ST), Tactical Air Control Party (TACP), and Personnel Recovery operators during target acquisition and control, combat search and rescue, and personnel recovery operations, reducing potential for errors, enhancing the safety and security of friendly forces, and, ultimately, reducing the risks of fratricide.
Responsibilities of the candidates include understanding software requirements and use cases, designing user interfaces, implementing source code to design specifications, developing automated test scripts to exercise the software, testing developed software, and updating software documentation as appropriate.
Additionally, the position requires the ability to analyze, debug, and correct reported issues and enhancements.
A successful candidate must possess an understanding of the entire software development life cycle.
Additionally, the development’s ultra-collaborative environment requires candidates to work well in a team environment, enabling candidates to learn from senior members in real-time.
The software integrates with the Windows Tactical Assault Kit (WinTAK) and provides connectivity with multiple datalinks.
The software is developed using C and C#, and regression tests are developed in Javascript using the TestComplete platform.
Assists in the design, development, troubleshooting and analysis of software programs for computer based systems.
Develops basic documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
Supports the preparation and installation of solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming with the support of management.
Assists with systems modeling, simulation and analysis. Help designs and develops basic compilers, assemblers, utility programs and operating systems with close supervision.
Supports the development of software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle.
Qualifications:
BA/BS (or equivalent experience); or equivalent to 4 years' experience.
Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance, therefore, a US Citizen.
