The team supporting the Administrative Office of the US Courts (AO) Case Management System Office (CMSO) is organized into 10 sub agile teams. We develop integrated solutions using the Agile/SAFe Framework. We focus on software development within AO to deliver systems for the Case Management and Electronic Case Filing (CM/ECF) Portfolio, which consists of mission-critical case management and related software to support federal appellate, district, and bankruptcy court judges and staff and external stakeholders.
The production support team works closely with AOs National Support Desk (NSD) and CM/ECF development teams to support the CM/ECF suite of applications for 204 courts located all over the US and its territories. The current technical environment includes Java, Spring Framework and Security, Hibernate, Web Services, Informix, Perl, shell scripts, HTML/ CSS/ JavaScript/ AngularJS, Rich Faces, cloud infrastructure, and mobile and web technologies.
As part of the production support team (Tier 2 and Tier 3), the Senior Java Developer will execute the following responsibilities:
Provide Operational support expertise, including the following:
Debugging software in production, including:
performing systematic assessments for identifying root causes of faults or problems and remediation
collecting and analyzing server logs directly and via log aggregation tools such as Splunk,
making use of application performance monitoring tools such as AppDynamics
Understanding the architecture of the sore applications, services and related components
Understanding local production environments including security hardening, performance tuning, and access control.
Reproducing failures in development environments with test suite automation
Design, develop and deliver temporary solutions for courts
Working closely with solutions architects to ensure system design follows the industry best practices and standards that aligned with the Judiciary framework.
Collaborate with core development teams in determine the best solution to resolve production issues
Work closely with AOs National Support Desk (Tier 1)
Incorporate standards and best practices, including performance, security, scalability, and maintainability.
Update and maintain system design documents
Review and provide feedback on functional and technical requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree plus at least seven years (7 ) of specialized experience in software development, architecting solutions and debugging/ support experience in enterprise scale web-based application environment.
Experience in software engineering and design architectures
Expert level Java developer experience.
Significant experience with Spring framework, JSP and Java Server Faces (JSF).
Experience with RESTful web services.
SQL and data modeling experience, including experience working with ORM tools/frameworks such as Hibernate (including a working knowledge of JPA).
Extensive experience developing applications in an agile environment.
Outstanding communication, organization, time management, and interpersonal skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills coupled with strong listening skills.
Experience with Git or other distributed source control system
Experience in analyzing log files generated by servers, Splunk tool and other performance monitoring tools
Working knowledge and experience in Federal IT security guidelines and practices and Section 508/ Accessibility.
Working knowledge and experience in cloud-based environments.
Ability to contribute on an individual basis as well as demonstrate your strengths as a team player as a member of an agile team.
Experience communicating and collaborating with other software developers, business owners, and management.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience in supporting production environment, automation and CI/CD, and security minded design and development.
