Overview:

 

We are seeking a UX Copywriter to join our Blue Buffalo Creative team and report directly to the Digital Associate Creative Director. In this role, you will use your passion for inspiring storytelling to communicate the Blue Buffalo brand narrative by writing unique in-appcopy that engages Pet Parents within our Buddies by Blue Buffalo digital experience. You will craft messaging to build trust between the Blue Buffalo brand and Pet Parents while driving  loyalty to BLUE. Your understanding of our Pet Parents and experience with digital channels, specifically mobile apps, will be critical to ensuring that our Buddies by Blue Buffalo communications are poised to make an impact across all the moments that matter.  

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Be a brand storyteller, develop Buddies by Blue Buffalo app content  to motivate, inspire, educate, and inform Pet Parents.  
  • Understand the Blue Buffalo brand narrative, experience strategies, and Pet Parent touchpoints to inform and develop relevant copy that meets mobile app channel objectives.  
  • Participate in strategic planning sessions to understand content/copy needs, review creative briefs, and execute on requests for new copy and/or adaptations.   
  • Partnering with the Associate Creative Director, work with Content Strategist and Experience (App) Product Managers to meet messaging requirements for the Buddies by Blue Buffalo digital/mobile app experience.
  • Collaborate with Pet Parent Engagement and Marketing teams to understand messaging and channel goals; write clear and compelling copy that reflects the Buddies by Blue Buffalo brand voice and drives desired  Pet Parent behaviors.   
  • Write compelling copy to support our Buddies by Blue Buffalo digital experience and other BLUE branded channels as needed, ensuring consistency of messaging across channels.
  • Work with other creative counterparts to ensure product copy meets brand tone of voice, brand standards and adheres to legal/compliance guidelines.
  • Work closely with the Performance & Optimization team to understand performance of content in market and apply learnings to future copy iterations.

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AS REQUESTED: 

  • Work with UX Designer and other Designers as needed to ensure copy aligns with visual elements. 
  • Work with Pet Parent Care to guide and draft response messaging and communications related to the Buddies by Blue Buffalo experience.  

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 3 years digital (web/mobile) copywriting experience 
    • At least one year of writing in-app copy
  • Exceptional writing skills that demonstrate the ability to create engaging campaign content 
  • Strong understanding of digital channels from a marketing lens 
  • Ability to identify and communicate copy that is in line with broader brand strategy goals and initiatives 
  • Exceptional writing and editing abilities with high attention to detail
  • Experience using Content Management Systems and related tools is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of how to write copy for multi-touch, digital nurturing campaigns for prospects not in an active buying cycle 
  • Experience working in agile rhythms and with agile tools (JIRA/Confluence) for workflow management
  • Must be able to work in an environment with free-roaming companion pets; pet enthusiast preferred 

 

PREFERRED SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:  

  • Experience working in a startup or agency environment

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • BA in Marketing, Communications, or Journalism preferred
