Job Description At General Motors we pride ourselves on designing, building and selling the world's best vehicles and transportation solutions. We are seeking a new generation of visionaries to help launch bold Design initiatives, and shape new directions for General Motors at our California Advanced Studio. As an intern through our EXCEL (Exploring Careers through Experiential Learning) Program you will gain hands-on career specific experiences to maximize your real-world potential while learning from industry leaders and experts in Creative Design. ***Please note, you must submit a Portfolio to be considered for this position – See Instructions Below*** General Purpose of Position: Develop new designs for automotive vehicles or other products where decisions are made with general practices and standards. Follow the design process from the sketch form to the final release of model. Support world-class quality execution of innovative advanced design programs and concepts. Integrate customer focused needs and brand differentiation into all aesthetic proposals. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Create original design ideas. Make perspective sketches and renderings in scale and full size sufficient to communicate new design ideas. Develop two and three-dimensional mock-ups of proposed design solutions. Work with studio engineers, modelers, other designers and service and fabrication personnel in the development of new ideas in both two and three-dimensional form to required finish. Stay current with design trends. Present new thoughts and designs both orally and visually. Actively identifies new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities. Additional Job Description Skills and Abilities: Good 2D and 3D visual communication skills. Creative proficiency with supporting portfolio. Good oral and written communications skills. Good Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others. Education and Training: Currently working towards a Bachelor or Advanced degree in the following: Industrial Design Product Design Transportation Design Must be graduating on or after December 2023. This role offers the following Work Appropriately strategies: Onsite: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.
