Safety Lead

Scope: The Lead Safety Specialist is a technical position responsible for supporting site implementation of the Workplace Safety System similar to ISO 45001 and providing safety support at General Motors Brownstown Battery Assembly Plant. The plant plays a key role in the Cruise Autonomous Vehicle program with the roof module production for all of Cruise’s self-driving vehicles. Additionally, the plant produces lithium-ion battery packs for GMC HUMMER EV truck and Cadillac LYRIQ. The position would work closely with GM's Electrical Vehicle Occupational Safety (EVOS) team. A centralized team of individuals with diverse skills, backgrounds, and functional expertise working cross-functionally throughout the enterprise to accelerate EV occupational safety hazard identification and risk mitigation learnings. Develops valuable strategic direction that drives successful execution of Global Workplace Safety Strategy Deployment at the site/regional level. Partners with their peers to share and demonstrate good practices across their sites, supports the site operations leadership and other key functions at the sites. Meets with union representatives and works through resolution of issues. Assists or directs the resolution of government safety violations or citations. Performs other tasks as assigned.
