Job Description
The Role
GM is undergoing a major transformation, both in how we operate and in how we will influence the future of transportation! The Datafile Release Specialist roles supports Vehicle Motion Embedded Controls (VMEC) Engineers and Calibrators. Responsibilities will include: releasing Controller software and calibration data files necessary for controller programming both at the vehicle assembly plants and the service organization utilizing release tools in place such as ECR, GPDS, SPR and vCDM. Creation of eBOMs used by the Supplier to manufacturer the Controller End Models. Updating and Maintaining Change Tracking Parts Lists for the life of the controller program.
The position involves a considerable amount of creativity, perception and a wide latitude for independent action including significant independent judgment. Additional responsibility will include occasional instruction and training of a small group of employees.

Responsibilities
- Support Data File Releases for all requested phases of the Development and Production Processes including Service to the appropriate system
- Create controller flashable archive files (as the need arises) for controller testing Support Pre-Production builds by delivering Chassis Vehicle Motion Embedded Controller data files to appropriate repositories to meet build milestones
- Assist in planning, developing, establishing and maintaining programs and procedures
- Act as contact for Vehicle Assembly plant to resolve plant issues (including resolution of LN containment database and PRTS issues
- Recommend solutions to unusual and difficult problems
- Prepare presentations and participates in PICM meetings as necessary to support controller programs
- Work in Client and Windows based applications as part of the VMEC Data file Release Process

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience, in either specifications or datafile Engineering Releasing; 5 years preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- High level of sound logic and analytical ability where problems are unusual, complex and difficult
- Attentiveness to detail and precision
- Ability to work effectively local and globally
- Ability to work flexible hours in support of Global Plants problem resolution
- Ability to handle ambiguity and make decisions and recommendations with limited data
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment with sometimes incomplete requirements
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
- Knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new Mainframe, Unix and Windows based applications
- Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area
- Experience facilitating meetings with results-driven outcomes
- Experience with automotive manufacturing release systems
- Experience with material build processes
- Knowledge of computer application as it pertains to Data File Release; Mainframe
