Job Description

NOTE: This is a Hybrid position within our IT Organization. The role will allow employees to work remotely, but will also require onsite work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to live a commutable distance to the innovation center they are selected for. Relocation will be provided as needed.

About the role:

GM's Information Technology team is pursuing a Program Manager to head a program management for V2G storage systems. You will be responsible for innovative applications that coordinate EV load management, helping accelerate the effort to achieve a cleaner, safer, and more energy efficient future! GM is currently seeking an individual with agile leadership experience and practical knowledge in V2G, including Open Vehicle Grid Integration Platform (OVGIP) standards and smart grid design. You will work with a team investigating opportunities to maximize core GM battery technology in new growth areas.
Your capabilities
  • Lead a range of V2X-related software technology solutions associated with bidirectional charging, V2H, V2L, V2G and other advanced V2X functions
  • Elicit and manage high bandwidth, high EQ communications between customers/partners and internal product and engineering teams
  • Support GM's smart grid activities, helping to implement various VGI programs with utilities.
  • Support project strategy, balancing customer and other requirements
  • Support policy conversations around vehicle to grid integration
  • Develop materials for leadership reviews/makes presentation to all levels of management
  • Support overarching objective to make the EV ownership experience more seamless and convenient
  • Explore competitive landscape and opportunities for GM that may contribute to increasing the value of EV offerings such as smart charging, energy storage, and other adjacencies
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering teams, program management teams, and other internal groups crafting and implementing necessary strategies to optimize charging experience
  • Help inform development of the total EV product offering, including the technology/software components
  • Works with utilities, other automotive OEMs & charging partners to implement technology & partnership solutions needed to deliver on GM objectives

Additional Job Description
Required skills / experience / education:
  • 10 years' experience with enterprise level program management
  • At least 5 years' experience in an electrification-based role, electric vehicle (EV) charging company, or electric utility.
  • Proven high level of interpersonal skills required to effectively lead, empower, and facilitate others in group situations.
  • Demonstrated strategic agility and desire to work in a complex and evolving environment and an innovation mindset.
Preferred:
  • Practical knowledge around electric grid technologies, use cases, and innovation
  • Azure DevOps
  • MBA degree
