Job Description

Hybrid - This position does not require an employee to be onsite full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

This position requires an employee to be onsite on average 1-3 times per week.

In-vehicle connectivity is among the fastest growing technologies in the global auto industry used to support development of ground breaking solutions related to autonomous vehicles, car sharing, infotainment, Over-the-Air software updates and vehicle-to-vehicle communications. While we continue to pave the way forward with in-vehicle connectivity within the automotive industry, you will draw on your creativity and passion to guide your team of engineers in developing and launching future generations of connectivity solutions. What You Do
  • Foster a culture of empowerment and accountability while crafting a fun work atmosphere and team camaraderie
  • Remove development and implementation roadblocks for team members
  • Oversight of integration efforts verifying data collection capabilities and performance requirements are met
  • Develop Statement of Requirements and work with Purchasing to complete supplier negotiation and sourcing for new projects
  • Ensure all program deliveries and dates are met for specification releases, DFMEAs, software deliveries, validation results, defect resolution, integration efforts, and product launch
  • Provide control over changes to the scope and functionality of project charter
  • Engage with Subject Matter Experts and Software Architecture teams to ensure specification updates are complete and software implementation is reviewed
  • Engage with Validation to ensure Validation Cross Reference Index and all validation procedures and required tools are complete and available for first software delivery
  • Ensure all Interface Component Documents, Engineering Change Requests and Engineering Work Orders are complete on time
  • Develop project plans for Over the Air updates required post launch
  • Report to senior leaders on project status, roadblocks, and escalated requests

Additional Job Description

What You Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 8 years of experience in a technical domain, leading projects, and consistently meeting targets
  • Able to lead in the face of ambiguity and constantly evolving environments while allowing team members to build their own skills
  • Expertise in-vehicle development process, product development, execution, systems engineering, vehicle integration, or validation
  • High level of sociability while working independently and efficiently with other global organizations within both the technical and business communities

What Would Be Even Better
  • Master's degree in relevant area of study
  • Experience with diagnostic test tools, vehicle bus architectures & standards, OBD-II, SAE J1979, AUTOSAR, vehicle power modes
  • Expertise in Telematics, Connectivity, or Infotainment
  • Experience with in-vehicle communication technologies (4G/5G Wireless, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, eCall, V2X, GPS)
