  • Hybrid:This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite1-3 times per week.

In this software development role, you will be responsible for developing software applications using sound, repeatable, industry standard methodologies. You will have the opportunity to work hands-on writing software or solutions, based on detailed requirements and system specifications. Development activities will include updating existing software and/or developing new software solutions to address a specific need or solve a particular business problem. Additionally, you will drive development activities in accordance with appropriate methodologies and application of a repeatable, systematic and quantifiable approach to the development process. You will coach/mentor software developers and will review the software being developed. This role will also work closely with architects and/or data scientists to ensure code alignment with design patterns/frameworks.

The position, HCM Workday Configurator (Core Compensation, Advance Compensation and Job Change), is responsible for designing, developing and supporting Workday configuration of the HCM platform globally with focus on Compensation/Advance Compensation/Job Change and touchpoints to Recruiting, Hire and Onboarding, Benefits, Absence, Succession, Talent, Offboarding, interfacing with GM global solutions for payroll and time keeping and will also be responsible for all phases of the development/configuration lifecycles including post-production support as needed. To be successful in this role, they must have a deep knowledge of HCM Business Processes, Implementation methodology, and should be able to work closely with business, internal and external resources. They will combine these skills to deliver and support successful deployments.
  • For this role you will be encouraged to have proven success in software project delivery experience in leading technical efforts developing applications using a variety of tools, languages, frameworks and technologies
  • Demonstrate mastery of many programming languages, tools and/or technologies
  • Performance tuning, usability assessment/improvement
  • Passionately engage in the identification / remediation of software issues related to code or solutions quality, security, and/or pattern/frameworks and software usability or end user related issues
  • Integrate software with existing software/systems
  • Automates unit/end-to-end testing of software systems within their domain, focused on software quality and maintainability
  • Solid Understanding of maintaining and debugging live software systems. Dedicatedly engage in the remediation of software issues related to code/solutions quality and/or security
  • Provides guidance and mentoring of fellow software developers and other team members
  • Possess technical writing knowledge around system design specification and user documentation of software systems and ensure that technical documentation meets GM standards
  • Understand and maintain compliance with GM standards and industry standard methodology
  • Holds themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviors. Models GM behaviors and builds a winning culture.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Design, Build, Test, and Deploy Workday HCM solutions
  • Lead Compensation (Core/Advance Compensation) and Job Change work streams driving towards decisions and recommending best practices related to functionality including, but not limited to maintaining business processes, compensation packages, grades, compensation steps, compensation plans, eligibility rules, advanced compensation (bonus, merit and stock), Transfer, Promote, Change Job configuration and processing.
  • Work closely with the business teams to understand functional requirements and execute them through successful implementation, testing and deployment with required documentation
  • Manage the end-to-end functional support for Workday Compensation (Core and ) and Job Change.
  • Review WD releases for any talent and performance related feature and functionalities and implement them on a timely manner
  • Coordinate with GM's Workday implementation partners to ensure the timelines and deadlines are met
  • Advise on industry standards and leading practices as it relates to HCM and Talent and Performance Management
  • Provide documentation and artifacts required for each phase of the development life cycle
  • Develop test cases and peer review code of other developers
  • End to end implementation including project management, issue management, communication and change management
  • Provide production support and respond to issues and incidents on a timely manner
  • Provide off hour support on an as needed basis
  • Ensure compliance with technical best practices, standards and policies
  • Train other resources to support Workday configurations as needed
  • Prepare technical documentation and ability to support testing from development till post-production support.
  • Proven ability to successfully juggle multiple projects and priorities and able to shift direction quickly when priorities change.
  • Full lifecycle application development using standard frameworks and coding standards/patterns
  • Coding, unit testing and debugging applications in various software languages
  • Software testing and quality assurance
  • Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation
  • Document software code and ensure that technical documentation i.e. configuration guides, install guides meet requirements
  • Integrate software with existing systems
  • Maintain standards compliance
  • Implement localization or modernization of software
  • Work closely with senior developers and software engineers to gain additional knowledge and expertise.
  • Proactively engage in the remediation of software issues such as code quality, pattern mismatch, and security issues related to the code/configuration
  • Automates testing processes by developing unit test scripts, as needed

Additional Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 7 years of experience in HCM or related area
  • 4 years of experience in WorkdayCompensation (Core and Advanced) and Job Changes configuration
  • 4 years of experience configuring Workday Business Process Security
  • 4 years of experience creating Workday custom reports and calculated fields
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to partner with business
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with internal and external resources
  • Ability to clearly communicate with peers, business analysts, and subject matter experts
  • Proficiency with Agile Development Techniques
  • Completion of Workday training in Compensation and Core HCM
  • Good understanding of Workday Compensation, Payroll setup and Job Changes
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to multitask effectively
  • Ability to lead as a technical expert; from gather requirements, design, development, testing till deployment.
  • HRIS teams including technical and non-technical at all levels.
  • Analytical approach to solving system issues including understanding system interdependencies.
  • Proven ability to successfully juggle multiple projects and priorities and able to shift direction quickly when priorities change.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of Workday training in Advance Compensation
  • Workday Certification
  • Experience in using Workday mass load tools
  • Experience in using TFS/ADO
  • Knowledge of SOX Audit Reports in Workday
  • Experience in supporting integrations with third-party service vendor

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an Accredited Institution
