Job Description

Routes start as early as 2am and drivers can acquire daily overtime with our 10–12-hour shifts. Deliveries will require substantial physical demand throughout the scheduled daily routes. Primary Purpose: The Non-Commercial Delivery Route Truck Driver delivers produce and other products to General Produce customers. Drivers are expected to provide exceptional customer service while making deliveries. Also, drivers are responsible for verifying accurate quantity is delivered in a safely and efficient manner.

Functions:
• Perform routine safety inspection of vehicle before heading out on routes.
• Down-stacks pallets in trucks and unloads merchandize for deliveries.
• Drive safely and responsibly according to CHP laws and regulations.
• Provide amazing customer service to clients during deliveries.
• Notates delivery information on daily sales and delivery record.
• Listen and communicate with office to resolve service complaints.
• Reports regularly to leads and supervisors.

 

Job Qualifications


Qualifications:

  1. Valid California Drivers License.
  2. Driving record must conform to company policy and show no DUIs.
  3. Basic writing, reading and speaking English language skills.
  4. Customer service skills.
  5. Ability to read maps
  6. Some basic technological proficiency required to operate pagers, cell phones, etc.
  7. Ability to perform the primary functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Licenses:

Driver must maintain a valid CA driver license and DMV record must meet the company’s policy in order to perform driving duties.

Education and Experience:

High School graduate or equivalent and/or one year experience driving a commercial truck. General Produce prefers some experience working in the produce industry. Experience working in food distribution is also preferred.

Language Skills:

  1. Ability to read and interpret customers’ orders, procedure manuals and other written material.
  2. Ability to communicate verbally and comprehend verbal instructions.
  3. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, coworkers, supervisors and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

  1. Perform basic arithmetic functions: additions, subtractions, multiplications and divisions.

Mental Abilities:

  1. Ability to carry out defined procedures and duties with specific instructions.
  2. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, customers, and the public.
  3. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.
