What are the responsibilities and job description for the CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER position at General Shale?
General Shale, the nation's leading brick and masonry materials manufacturer, is seeking a Construction/Project Manager to supervise and manage special projects involving innovative wall systems. This position will report to our Corporate Engineering team in Johnson City, TN.
Duties:
- Assist the Manager of Engineering Services with technical projects.
- Prepare and manage cost estimates.
- Coordinate, schedule, and supervise contractors in the field.
- Work with vendors as required to manufacture wall system components.
- Manage incoming phone calls and emails to provide effective and timely communication with the Sale Departments, customers and contractors.
- Answer design and installation questions. Solve field problems.
- Collaborate with customers during the building phase of projects.
- Prepare various technical documents and training aids.
Position requirements:
- Associates or higher in Construction Management, Engineering, Drafting, or related technical field
- Strong project management skills
- Construction management experience is a plus
- Strong MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word,) skills
- Written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency with AutoCAD (or other drafting/design software) is a plus, but not required.
- Familiarity with building codes and common building practices
- Ability to work independtly
- Attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
