Position Title: RN, Educator
Department: Patient Services Support
Purpose: Utilizes knowledge and skill grounded in evidence based practice and experience. Practice is characterized by a flexible, innovative, and confident self-directed approach to patient and family care. Provides leadership for the practice and delivery of patient care consistent with the primary nursing care delivery model. Collaborates with other caregivers to coordinate institutional resources to maximize advocacy for the patient and family care in achieving the most effective outcomes. Is accountable for additional role responsibilities in research, quality, and education, not only within his/her patient care area but also within Genesis Medical Center. The Clinical Nurse Educator coordinates staff development activities including orientation, competency validation and maintenance, and ongoing education. Utilizes innovative strategies to meet the learning needs of new employees and current staff.

Supervisory Responsibility: Direction: The job requires some accountability for scheduling, assigning or coordinating work. Employees check the quality of work and provide guidance, instruction, training and direction to others. Although the job does not require formal or official supervisory responsibility, the incumbent serves as group leader or acts in an informal "assistant supervisory" or "lead" role. In addition, the employee may be expected to provide information or suggestions on human resources matters.
Materials Responsibility: Limited: Work requires limited responsibility for material resources. Examples of resources could include supplies, equipment, inventories, small budgets, and other similar material assets. The employee has a limited amount of control over these resources. The cost of errors is also limited in terms of damage, waste or financial loss. Problems associated with material resources are not complex. The volume of resources may vary, but the level of difficulty in dealing with these resources is uncomplicated.

POSITION SPECIFICATION
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Field Of Study: Nursing
Special Training: Certification in area of specialty, OR master's degree in nursing, OR active enrollment (at least 2 academic courses per year) towards a master's degree in nursing; Basic Life Support.
Training Preferred:
Licensure/Registration: Registered Nurse in Illinois, Registered Nurse in Iowa within 1 year.
Experience: More than 2 years experience required.
Interpersonal Skills: Interaction is with a variety of people inside or outside the organization. Communications are often difficult or stressful in nature. Contact with others involves complex, detailed and often sensitive topics. The job requires a high degree of interpersonal skills to deal with a range of complicated problem situations. Interactions involve gaining the agreement of others.
Working Conditions: There is routine exposure to highly adverse environmental conditions including physical hazards, health and safety risks, and otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment. Personal risks require safety equipment or precautions to be followed closely. The time the employee may be exposed to these conditions is limited to 70% or less of the work day.
