Overview of position:
Summary:
An excellent writer and editor with an eye for detail that develops, oversees and implements public relations and marketing communication plans and projects to support the organization’s culture and goals. Writes, edits and keeps the Genesis employee newsletter on schedule for release every other week. Maintains webpages within the position’s area of responsibility. Develops concepts and copy for public relations and marketing materials including newsletters, magazines, fliers and brochures and participates in planning and implementation of special events.

Essential Duties:
Responsibilities:
1.
Develops and implements marketing/public relations communication plans and projects to support the organization’s goals.
2.
Maintains assigned webpages, ensuring standards for timeliness, accuracy and quality are met and copy meets standards for suitability and optimization for the online environment, and consistency of style, tone, messaging and relevancy.
3.
Develops overall concept and writes copy for public relations and marketing materials, and coordinates production with appropriate team members, including newsletters, promotional fliers, website, social media, magazine, blogs, brochures, videos, etc.
4.
Provides guidance and recommendations to organization contacts for the most effective marketing/public relations communication approaches
5.
Maintains project records and monitors project budgets.
6.
Participates in planning, oversight and execution of special events, activities and programming.
7.
May coordinate media interviews with appropriate organization contacts, write news releases, provide background information to reporters and recommend talking points/key points for organizational contacts.
8.
Completes other marketing, public relations and communications projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

1.
Bachelor’s degree in communications-related field including public relations, marketing or journalism.
2.
Three (3) years experience in development of marketing and public relations literature and event planning.
3.
Strategic thinker/superior verbal and written communicator.
4.
Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, facilitation, conflict resolution and investigative skills.
5.
Basic mathematic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) to determine cost for projects.
6.
Ability to work independently and under pressure in a complex and changing work environment, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
7.
Ability to read and understand written communications at a minimum of 12th grade level, including information published in professional medical journals that may be used in developing communication materials.
8.
Must be PC literate in Microsoft Office business applications and internet usage.
9.
Adept at using Associated Press (AP) style.
10.
A portfolio of published works will be required.

• Demonstrates safe Materials Handling (i.e. appropriate use and disposal of chemicals, infectious wastes, etc.)
• Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of Infectious Disease precautions and use of proper protective equipment.
• Demonstrates Slips/Trips and Falls Awareness.
• Actively contributes to maintaining a safe, clean and quiet environment.
