What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth play director position at GENEVA PARK DISTRICT?

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Director to join our team for our upcoming spring musical - The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales. The Youth Director will be responsible for overseeing rehearsals and performances at Playhouse 38 - a facility of Geneva Park District. This role requires experience working with children and students, as well as a strong background in theatre, acting, dancing, singing or related fields.

Duties:

- Attend auditions on March 19 and assign roles for the production

- Lead two rehearsals a week on either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursdays from 6-8pm from 4/2 - 5/2

- Attend performances on 5/3 at 7pm, 5/4 at 3pm and 7pm, and 5/5 at 3pm

- Provide leadership and guidance to volunteers and staff members

- Coordinate with assistant director and choreographer

- Foster a safe and inclusive environment for all participants

- Deliver helpful and supportive feedback to actors to prepare them for their performances

- Maintain accurate records of attendance, program participation, and progress

Qualifications:

- Preferred experience working with children or students in a professional setting (e.g., childcare, special education, preschool, nannying, classroom)

- Strong knowledge of theatre, acting, dance or singing skills

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to create engaging and age-appropriate activities

- Knowledge of early childhood education is preferred but not required

- CPR/First Aid certification is required - training can be provided
