Capacity Planner

Description

PURPOSE:

As a Capacity Planner, you will have the opportunity to play a key role in the Enterprise Supply Chain Sales Inventory & Operations Planning Process. The Capacity Planner will optimize inventory as well as the capacity planning function to ensure demand forecasts can be supported, develop and drive model improvements to maximize statistical confidence and operational performance accuracy, design, implement, and maintain site monthly capacity reporting tools relating to high/low mix production.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Create a Supply Review summary monthly based on data analysis to assess overall capacity to demand and facilitating the Supply Review summary with Supply Chain and Business Unit Operations/Planning teams.
• Lead capacity planning activities across the company.
• Build and maintain our production capacity model.
• Identify capacity gaps and recommend strategies for closing these gaps.
• Develop and communicate demand forecasts for key resources like equipment capacity, raw materials, and labor.
• Adjust MRP manufacturing planning parameters for raw materials, finished products, and intermediates as needed.
• Develop and maintain Master Data which includes materials, resources, etc.
• Conduct analysis of production forecast to maintain stock levels based on replenish-to-order inventory plan.
• Responsible for the continuous improvement and accuracy of the MRP system for production items.
• Ensures adherence to the Manufacturing Planning Parameter standard operating procedure.
• Creates and maintain reporting summarizing capacity and service level and any other key performance indicators (KPI's).
• Coordinate Supply Chain and Manufacturing Operations to ensure material signals are in place and capacity is available to meet long term requirements.
• Ensure alignment of manufacturing processes and scheduling functions through scheduling parameters and capacity models.
• Work closely with R&D, manufacturing, and Production Planning to accurately model manufacturing processes.
• Build analytical and decision-support tools and dashboards used for manufacturing capacity planning.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR PROFESSIONAL LICENSE(s):

· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, an MBA, or 5 years equivalent experience.

· APICS and Black Belt certifications are preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

· A strong track record of building and maintaining models used to analyze and improve operations, particularly capacity modeling, and cost modeling.

· You have worked closely with R&D, manufacturing, and planning teams to accurately model manufacturing processes.

· Extensive experience in the use of Microsoft Office suite, statistical SW and generating professional documents and reports.

· You have a demonstrated ability to understand complex manufacturing processes.

· Understanding and familiarity with ecommerce.

POSITION SUPERVISES:

This is a non-supervisory role.

CONTACT WITH OTHERS:

Internal: Position requires daily contact with local staff, peers, and Management.

External: Contact with individuals outside the facilities such as suppliers, as well as other GENTEX facilities

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Works in various conditions including a climate-controlled office environment as well as production and warehouse areas which can be subject to moderate changes in temperature.

Travel:

Generally, travel is not required

Gentex’s Carbondale facility is located in Northeastern Pennsylvania in Lackawanna County.
