Verdantas is a national consulting group seeking a talented Project Soil Scientist / Project Manager to join our Natural Resources team in the Mid-Atlantic region. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in either our Wilmington, Dover, or Lewes Delaware offices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparation of scope and fees on projects
- Working both autonomously and with small teams
- Conduct field tasks, including wetland delineations, forest stand delineations, and soil classification
- Soil testing for stormwater management facilities and on-site wastewater treatment and disposal systems
- Overseeing and logging soil test pits, soil borings, well installations, and infiltration testing
- Preparing wetland permit applications and mitigation/restoration plans in support of land development projects
- Technical report writing
Other responsibilities may include:
- Regional field support of Natural Resource projects in DE, MD, NJ, PA, and VA
- Coordinate with USACE, USFWS, USEPA, and other regulatory agencies to retrieve natural resources information Identifying woody and herbaceous plant species
- Maintaining Excel databases associated with regulatory compliance
- Collecting groundwater, soil, sediment, air, and surface water samples
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Soil Science or related discipline
- 5-8 years of relevant experience
- Proficiency with the USDA Soil Classifications System and familiarity with the Unified Soil Classification System.
- Capable of working primarily in an outdoor work environment and office environment
- Familiarity with plant identification techniques
- Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 80 lbs. occasionally with or without accommodation, sometimes over substantial distances
- Experience with ArcGIS and/or AutoCAD
- Proficient with MS Office suite of products
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training a plus
- Previous consulting experience is a plus
- Must have a valid driver’s license
