JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Shop Lead - Fabrication
DEPT: Fabrication Department
REPORTS TO: Fabrication Manager

SUMMARY:
The Floor Lead for Fabrication will be a working lead responsible for the work center - providing leadership to team members, demonstrating and teaching standard practices, identifying and implementing improvements, and providing tactical leadership on the floor. The location Lead will have knowledge of company processes and resources and will have effective communication skills.
Additionally, this individual will have the trust and confidence of others with an established demonstration of personal discipline, a drive to produce quality product, and strong personal integrity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide leadership to team members o Support and reinforce shop objectives

▪ Demonstrate and teach standard practices
▪ Identify best practices and/or improvements and integrate them into standard practices of the department
▪ Lead by example o Tactical, on-floor leadership
▪ Coordinate work assignments of team members

• Job/work order prioritization (in coordination with supervisor)

▪ Anticipate needs of co-workers (materials, tools, information, etc.)▪ Problem-solve issues that arise

• Communication o With co-workers

▪ Uses good judgement in deciding when and what information can be shared
▪ Maintains confidentiality as appropriate
▪ Positively coaches team members toward personal and departmental goals o With manager
▪ Daily meetings with manager giving concise, factual verbal activity reports regarding performance of safety, quality, delivery, and or productivity of the department
▪ Sensitive or difficult information
▪ Overall challenges or needs of the team o With other departments
▪ Connect with other departments to problem solve challenges

REQUIREMENTS

• High level of ownership
• Hands-on with strong mechanical abilities
• Decisive - able to learn and grow from mistakes
• Leader/Team player - effectively supports others to bring out their best
• Strong computer skills o Comfortable composing emails o Filing documents for other’s use o Able to quickly navigate in SAP
• Effective communication skills - both written and oral
• Ability to organize and prioritize, with strong attention to detail

Note: This position will have a limited advisory role in hiring/firing personnel, personnel performance reviews/wage adjustments, disciplinary actions or purchase requests.
