George Fox University's Simulation/Lab Operations Technician works within the nursing program to operate simulation equipment and collaborate with faculty on learning experiences.


About the Job:

This position has responsibility for the general daily operations of high, mid, and low fidelity simulation equipment, task trainers, audio-visual equipments, and computers used in the training of healthcare professionals. This technician collaborates with College of Nursing faculty to implement simulation and laboratory learning experiences.


Job Responsibilities Include, but Are Not Limited To:

  • Programs and operates simulators, FoxHEALTH electronic health record, and audio-visual systems such as VALT and cameras to support learning in the simulated healthcare environment.
  • Sets up, takes down, and maintains simulation and laboratory equipment.
  • Maintains medication administration cart inventory, operates patient monitors, and various other patient care equipment.
  • Collaborates with the Simulation Manager to organize, maintain, and restock skills lab and simulation lab supplies. Provides recommendations on equipment, supplies, and materials.
  • Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and contacts vendors as needed.
  • Provides technical support to faculty and staff in the use of simulation and lab equipment including task trainers and multimedia peripherals such as: bed/exam tables, headwalls, patient monitors, health care equipment, medication dispensing systems, vital sign monitors, etc.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.
  • Other duties as assigned.

A Day in the Life of This Position:

The Sim Ops tech works with faculty and staff for on campus clinical and lab experiences. Setting up equipment, operating simulation manikins, monitors, and other equipment, tearing down, maintaining equipment, and providing technical support based on the day's schedule of scenarios and student outcomes to be met.


We're Looking for Candidates Who Have:

  • Organizational and time management skills to keep equipment and supplies functioning, track various projects, and follow through on task completion.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot audio-visual equipment including projectors, microphones, portable screens, media players, etc.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot simulation equipment including monitors, LLEAP software, and manikins.
  • Familiarity with physiological monitoring systems.
  • Physical ability to lift, move, maintain, and set up computer, audio-visual and simulation lab equipment weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

Preference Will be Given to Those Who Have the Following Attributes:

  • Experience supporting healthcare simulation and laboratory education preferred.
  • Experience with simulation and laboratory technology preferred.
  • Healthcare background preferred
