What are the responsibilities and job description for the Performance Leader position at Georgia-Pacific?
Georgia-Pacific's Consumer Products division is growing and searching for a Performance Leader for our Tissue Converting operation in Port Hudson, Louisiana. This new position will be responsible for sixty-five operating technicians, developing their capabilities, and managing all aspects of individual and team performance. This leader will have a general understanding of the operation and will be accountable for the tissue product system results as it relates to team performance.
A successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, constructive challenge skills to facilitate improvement, the ability to stay current in best practices and be a lifelong learner. Collaboration skills with the ability to engage teams will also be critical to success.
Our Team
Located just north of Baton Rouge, LA and west of Zachary, LA, the Port Hudson mill employs about 350 people and has two tissue/towel paper machines and produces consumer tissue products such as bath tissue and paper towels sold under the Georgia-Pacific brand names of Quilted Northern® and Brawny®. The paper machines are state of the art for manufacturing of premium tissue paper. The mill is located in the sportsman's paradise of South Louisiana. Fishing and hunting opportunities are available in the immediate area. The Gulf Coast is only an hour away. There is plenty of history in the area to explore as well. For urban activities, Baton Rouge and New Orleans are just a short drive away.
What You Will Do
- Lead and mentor employees with behaviors and actions that advance our Principle Based Management® (PBM®) culture and the organizational vision
- Coach, lead, mentor and develop employees to continuously improve their knowledge and skills, and performance to create long-term value
- Encourage and incentivize knowledge sharing and transfer between team members
- Work and communicate with area and crew leaders, manufacturing engineers, skill builders, reliability coordinators, and others to identify and address performance and knowledge gaps
- Support team leaders in the area of safety and quality leadership to support our vision
- Work with individual team members to develop performance improvement objectives and goals. Hold individuals accountable for their results through vision setting, one-on-one conversations, and performance feedback.
- Provide resources to help team members develop their own careers and realize their full potential while becoming increasingly self-actualized.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Experience leading a team of direct reports
- Proven ability to positively impact team performance through coaching, development, and effective decision making
- Manufacturing experience
- Proven high performance in a fast-paced environment
What Will Put You Ahead
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience working in a paper mill or converting operation
- Experience working in pulp and paper manufacturing environments
- Experience leading or developing Learning and Development programs
