What You Will Do
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and enforcing safety policies on site.
- Provide hands on leadership to the hourly workforce and management of all daily operations including sub-contractors in the effort of targeting production goals and striving for continuous improvement and safe and efficient manner.
- Implement a positive and safe learning culture including communication, training, and improvements.
- Use of systems like Ariba, MP2 for parts/vendors/contractor work as well as MDM for parts creation and Apex for setting up vendors.
- Assist in implementing the long- and short-term mining plan. Participate in the planning process as necessary and provide input to the Quarry Manager and supporting capabilities.
- Be involved in scheduling, employee cross-training and facilitate MSHA visits.
- Manage day to day quarry operation including stripping overburden, dump management, road maintenance, rock extraction using surface miner and use of hydraulic hammer.
- Conduct daily site evaluations of operating areas to ensure grounds are safe for operations and water management.
- Perform daily review of environmental compliance and stewardship of operation along with Quarry Manager. Ensure that any incidents are reported, and corrective actions are taken.
- Be a key communicator between operations and management.
- Be active in helping control quarry costs to meet budgetary constraints.
- Help ensure rock quality meets plant's needs.
- Be involved in performance reviews for Hourly EE's, engaging in coaching and providing feedback.
- Review daily inspection sheets to ensure reports are accurate and complete .
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- High School Diploma (or equivalent degree) and five (5) years of surface mining operations experience.
- Five (5) years of experience operating Heavy Mobile Equipment in a surface mining operations environment.
- One (1) year leadership experience with direct reports.
- Currently have, or able to obtain a Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) Instructor Card Knowledge of Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) regulations and policies.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Building Products manufacturing experience.
- Experience applying lean manufacturing techniques.
- Experience in drill and blast activities.
- Experience with slot dozing, truck/loader operations. Experience improving manufacturing, mining, safety, maintenance, and cost effectiveness.
