REMOTE POSITION
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Installation and configuration of equipment, operating systems, and system software related to the building and maintaining of an enterprise class, high availability system complex.
- Solve complex problems in time sensitive situations along with providing 24/7 support of the systems and other members of IT.
- Diagnose and resolve critical production issues with the highest level of accuracy, accountability and reliability.
- Develop and maintain system procedures and documentation to meet operational and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality regarding corporate data.
- Provide guidance to junior staff on technical issues.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS
- Any decisions needed that pertains to the completion of assigned tasks on schedule.
- Any recommendations related to insuring a stable and efficient environment.
- Recommendations on development procedures, standards control and updates.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Continuous professional development.
- Keep Supervisor and Manager updated on progress of assigned tasks.
QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of a two-year Information Technology related degree and 4 years’ experience on a z/OS or Unix (AIX preferred) system performing system administration tasks or technical programming dealing with operating systems internals, or 6 years of like experience. Must be able to demonstrate problem solving skills and a good understanding of operating systems fundamentals.
For z/OS -
Should have significant experience using/configuring z/OS, JES2, SDSF, SMP/E, PR/SM, SMS, WLM, TSO, ISPF, Comm Server, TCPIP, VTAM, JCL, COBOL, HCD, REXX, CLIST, VSAM, etc. Should have experience installing z/Series hardware. Must have experience installing z/OS components or 3rd party products using SMP/E. Significant experience with DB2, CICS, WebSphere, and COBOL and assembler programming is very desirable. Disaster Recovery experience desirable. AIX experience desirable.
For AIX -
Should have significant experience using/configuring IBM Power series hardware, PowerVM, AIX/Unix/Linux, Vi, Unix security, TCPIP, shell scripting, system performance monitoring, Power firmware, HMC firmware, product packages, storage management with local, NFS, and SAN attached storage, in a virtualized environment. Should have strong shell scripting skills.. Experience with Websphere administration, Disaster recovery, and JAVA programming is very desirable. Z/OS experience desirable.

Must possess basic skills with PCs including experience with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and familiar with typical company web based system applications.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides guidance to junior staff members on technical issues.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Daily work in a normal office environment with occasional overnight travel necessary to visit office locations, conferences / training classes and meetings.
- Must be able to type and operate a PC on a continuous basis.
- Must possess basic skills with PCs including experience with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and familiar with typical company web based system applications.
- Must be able to occasionally lift, hold, and carry 50 lbs, push, pull and position large equipment. Work in data center under the floor and above the ceiling.
- Requires stooping, crawling and the climbing of ladders.
- Must be able to maintain valid driver’s license.
