What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Laborer position at GFL?
General Laborer :
Is responsible for safely and efficiently completing tasks and job duties. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, clean up rubble and debris, and remove other hazardous waste materials after appropriate training and certifications. May assist other craft workers.
Key Elements of Role:
- Provide assistance to operators and supporting environmental staff in the field.
- General manual labor to include use of hand tools and provide manual labor support for team members during jobs.
- Identify any hazards as observed for safety of personnel and equipment
- Requires the ability to properly wear, use, and maintain personal respirator equipment and other forms of personal protective equipment (PPE) on HAZWOPER sites
- Monitor job site for hazards and maintain a safe working environment
- Perform any other duties as assigned by site superintendent, other craft laborers or management
Key Skills:
- Previous experience working around heavy equipment preferred.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Team Player.
Physical Demand/Environment:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, twist, bend, kneel, see, talk, hear, lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to handle all outside environmental conditions.
