General Summary
· With some supervision from the Senior Electrical Engineer or Manager of Electrical Engineering, provide design and analysis for lighting, power, low voltage and control systems for new construction and/or renovation of industrial, commercial, educational, governmental and healthcare structures in conformance to client requirements and standards and applicable codes. The Electrical Engineer will provide engineering to develop construction documents for the installation, interconnection and control of architectural, electrical and mechanical components.
Essential Job Functions
· Design and analyze electrical systems for the installation, interconnection, and control of architectural, electrical and mechanical components using applicable codes and standards, including lighting and power distribution systems, low voltage systems (e.g. fire alarm systems, telecommunications/data networks, lighting control systems, power monitoring systems, etc.), sizing of equipment, etc.
· Review and/or establish project scope, electrical budget, design approach, and applicable constraints with the Project Manager or client as appropriate.
· Ensure electrical design meet NFPA standards.
· Adhere to project quality, budget, and schedule. Graphically produce construction documents per company and client standards.
· Communicate and work with all other disciplines to produce coordinated construction documents.
· Conduct field measuring and checking at the construction site.
· Maintain organized project file containing project calculations, schedules, correspondence, appropriate reference materials, etc.
· With assistance, edit and draft project specifications. Review project submittals (shop drawings) for conformance with contract documents; specify action required for conformance.
· Respond to RFIs. Prepare project cost estimates.
· Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience
18 months of experience (same or similar). “Same or similar” (electrical design), includes electrical apprenticeships and/or internships, AND 12 months experience utilizing AutoCAD (experience may be concurrent).
