What are the responsibilities and job description for the VDC Manager position at Gilbane Building Company?
Overview
The VDC Manager is responsible for a single, large, high profile project, a VDC department, a component of a VDC department or the VDC function within a business unit.
Responsibilities
- Depending on business unit workload, may take on any and all responsibilities of the VDC Engineer or Senior VDC Engineer in regards to quality of deliverables, document production, etc.
- Develop BIM execution plans
- Create staffing plans for projects within assigned department/business unit
- Develop and lead the VDC component in sales/BD pursuits
- Assist project teams in writing scopes of work
- Set VDC recoverability, profitability, and overall budget for the VDC business unit, unless managed by Senior VDC Manager or VDC Director
- Manage, mentor and develop 1-3 other VDC team members
- Understand the Factors of Success criteria to clients and designers, then adapt proposed services in a pragmatic manner to best assure the highest levels of client satisfaction

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- BS or MS degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Proficient in all Gilbane VDC software platforms
- Ability to assist in advanced D-VDC software troubleshooting and mid-level hardware troubleshooting
- Capable of completing VDC Engineer/Senior VDC Engineer typical duties/responsibilities
- Understanding of local and national market conditions
