HIRING ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE POSITION OF

COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

The Gilford Police Department (GPD) has an immediate full-time Communications Specialist vacancy. Communications Specialists are professionals who gather essential information from callers in order to dispatch appropriate first responders to various incidents in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Individuals who are adept at multitasking, dedicated, levelheaded, highly organized, and trustworthy are encouraged to apply.

The current opening is for rotating shifts with rotating days off. Flexibility to work other hours in order to fill shift vacancies, as well as a desire to work overtime (as needed) is required.

Minimum qualifications: a High School diploma (or equivalent); knowledge of & experience with computers/various computer programs; typing skills; and the abilities to: communicate well with the public, maintain self-control during emergency situations, speak clearly and coherently utilizing radio consoles, follow a para-military work environment, maintain required job certifications, and multitask.

The Town of Gilford offers an excellent benefits package with a competitive hourly wage from $23.00 - $35.87 (pay commensurate with experience). Additional work details and overtime-earning opportunities are available. Applicants may be required to pass any combination of the following: computer test; oral board interview; medical, polygraph, and/or psychological exams; and an extensive background investigation.
