Our mission is to make biology easier to engineer. Ginkgo is constructing, editing, and redesigning the living world in order to answer the globe's growing challenges in health, energy, food, materials, and more. Our bioengineers make use of an in-house automated foundry for designing and building new organisms.
Ginkgo believes that if we are to grow a thriving, sustainable bioeconomy, we must also grow a new market in biosecurity. Our biosecurity and public health initiative, Concentric by Ginkgo, launched a nationwide emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic, providing end-to-end pathogen monitoring services to schools, communities, and travelers. As we continue to scale Concentric, our work is also evolving into new and exciting directions, from global expansion to the integration of new technologies and capabilities, including our Traveler-Based Genomic Surveillance Plan with the CDC.
The Senior Director of Marketing is a strategic thinker who is deeply informed in the emerging disciplines of biosecurity. They can lead integrated marketing campaigns, develop strategic positioning, drive effective communication strategies, and oversee persuasive content production. As part of the leadership team, the VP will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure that Concentric's services are presented with maximum efficacy (and cost-efficiency) to national and international government customers, to simplify and convey the complex landscape of the services, and to develop Concentric's reputation and trust in a greenfield marketplace.
Responsibilities
- Develop rapid-pace, dynamic, polished and persuasive assets and materials that drive awareness and adoption for our products/ services
- Interweave the development of rapid turnaround materials- including, but not limited to: sales enablement decks and 1-pagers, event displays, printed materials, digital communications, videos, press releases, and academic / position papers- while also overseeing long-term initiatives and deliverables
- Develop marketing and communication frameworks for a wholly novel set of capabilities that are being offered to heterogeneous government customers
- Lead market research, analyze market opportunities and trends, and work cross-functionally to shape and position biosecurity services to national and international customers
- Work cross functionally to ensure teams are aligned on product positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies
- Develop and scale the necessary tools and processes for effective cross-team communication, review and approval, as well as tools for structured market input, asset management, and sale process tracking
- Oversee brand strategy and creative design for overall marketing efforts
- Oversee a small and diverse team of designers, writers, video producers, and communications professionals, to make best use of their time, talent, and capabilities.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in related field with minimum 14 years of relevant experience
- Familiarity with the science and technologies around biotechnology
- Familiarity working with technical stakeholders such as Epidemiologists, Bioinformaticians, and more
- Proven experience driving marketing strategies and achieving revenue targets
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate market insights into actionable marketing strategies

Total compensation for this role is market driven, with a starting salary of $180k , as well as company stock awards. Base pay is ultimately determined based on a candidate's skills, expertise, and experience.
