The Trading Post Assistant provides clerical and general support the camp office, operates the camp trading post and assists with unit operations and supervision of campers assigned to the unit; to provide a safe, fun, high quality Girl Scout camp experience for campers. Overnight Camp employment is seasonal, with dates of employment approximately May-August. Employment will be at Camp Cedarledge in Pevely, Missouri.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and ACCOUNTABILITIES
- 1. Assists with general office duties such as telephone messaging, mail delivery and copying
- 2. Inventories, stocks, and manages trading post inventory and supplies. Supervises and operates trading post sales.
- 3.Assumes responsibility for receipt, record keeping and secure storage of all monies and inventory. Responsibility for daily care, organization, maintenance and cleanliness of trading post area and facilities.
- 4. Lives in camper unit as assigned. Assists with camper supervision and unit activities. Actively assists campers in getting acquainted, making friends, understanding one another, developing a group identity, and problem solving.
- 5. Sustains an environment which supports physical and emotional safety for campers and staff. Establishes and maintains good relationships with campers.
- 6. Assists with the cleaning, inventory and closing of the unit at the end of the camp season. Assists with camp closing and completes other closing tasks as delegated
QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with cash handling, deposits and general office duties preferred

Meets GSUSA membership requirements and attained the minimum age of 18

Abides by national and local Girl Scout policies, standards and procedures and American Camp Association standards and procedures

Has successful experience working with groups of children

Has strong outdoor living skills (or willingness to obtain skills) and the ability to teach outdoor skills to campers

Has demonstrated leadership, good judgment, maturity, flexibility and ability to maintain positive attitude

Has energy, stamina and the ability to maintain patience and enjoy group living in the out of doors

Has current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certifications or the willingness and ability to obtain
EXPOSURES
Work is performed in a normal indoor environment with limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dirt and/or dust AND work is performed in an outdoor environment with exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dirt and/or dust.
