Job Summary
Responsible for being the liaison between production, purchasing, customer service, shipping, QA and planning. They will be in charge of making sure all orders are filled in a timely manner and ordering parts as needed and by following the past part usage charts depending on that time of year. Eligible candidates must have prior experience in inventory control within a manufacturing and or warehouse setting (both are a plus).
The production scheduler is responsible for establishing, reviewing and maintaining the production schedule in alignment with the Production Plan. Establishing the production schedule will involve working closely with operations leaders, and others to coordinate manufacturing plans that achieve the company objectives relative to customer service, efficient resource/capacity utilization and inventory investment.
Essential Duties & Functions
- Liaison between departments
- Assuring all customer orders and deliveries are done efficiently and properly
- Sending confirmations to customers when an order is received, started, finished, shipped and everything in between
- Will be trained to be the backup to Production Control functions determined by Production Control Manager
- Establishes daily production manufacturing priorities for the customer demands consistent with master scheduling requirements, inventory objectives, and service level goals
- Coordinates Kanban and material requirements
- Implements production tools for building to actual customer demands, Kanbans, prioritizing builds, expediting and automating transactions per Lean concepts
- Manages rejected and rework product planning
- Coordinates manufacturing activities. Meets daily with cross-functional team to resolve delayed customer shipments, component shortages, overtime, priorities, and identified problems
- Works shortage reports on a daily basis and expedites when appropriate. Identifies and resolves problems working with other production schedulers
- Executes prioritization changes due to customer requirement or shortage resolution
- Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
- Coordinate and schedule all incoming/outgoing build documents within assigned department
- Create and effectively maintain all build documents within assigned work centers
- Collect and verify production data and calculate statistical data for use in reports
- Check and post data to production logs, records, or reports
- Carry/move/expedite hardware and documentation between work centers as required
- Generate production status reports through collaborative customer communication
- Work with external suppliers in requesting quotes, reviewing supplier qualifications and standards and working with the internal program management team in awarding work to external suppliers
- Create and process purchase requisitions and purchase orders
- Work with the accounting department in reconciling accounts
- May support general administration tasks
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule
- Follow all standard operating procedures relevant to the job, position and department
- Follow established company and department policies, procedures, work instructions and safety and environmental guidelines
- Perform all other duties of equal or less complexity as assigned or directed

Skills/Qualifications
- Maintain basic knowledge of internal processes and controls
- Understanding of Kanban and JIT systems
- Able to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Broad working knowledge and experience with standard work instructions
- Must possess a strong customer service orientation and must provide dedicated support of internal and external customer requirements
- Must be a strong written and verbal communicator, able to communicate to various audiences effectively

- Able to work as a team (Production Control team)
- Strong computer skills and experience working with a variety of databases
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications especially Excel (Microsoft GP experience is a plus)
- Must have prior MRP experience
- Demonstrated root cause analysis skills required
Education and/or Experience
- Two year technical degree and 3 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 2 years in manufacturing facility and or warehouse setting
- Minimum 1 year of scheduling
- Min. Yrs. Experience:1-3 in a manufacturing/distribution environment
- Experience scheduling in a manufacturing environment is preferred
- Experience working with external suppliers
- Experience working in an ISO 9001 and AS9100 environment is preferred
- Knowledge of plant receiving and materials movement processes
