What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Assistant position at Givaudan?
Overall Objective:
Process day to day responsibilities of the International Logistics Administrator in order to effectively meet internal & external customer needs. Improve individual process consistency, accuracy, and timeliness based on increasing experience.
Core Responsibilities:
- Manage shipping process from planning completion through to shipment for assigned customers and/or sites
- Day to day communication and collaboration with customers, operations and 3rd parties
- Confirm pricing, inventory availability and provide ship date information
- Arrange transportation with forwarders or shipping/freight team, manage process for dealing with International orders including inspection and shipping documentation requirements where relevant
- Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure orders are dispatched / delivered on time and manage customer expectations
- Provide coverage and support accounts for other team members as necessary
- Properly identify the right communication method based on the sense of urgency and issue
- Knows how to diffuse a difficult situation and get resolution with the customers
- Able to work independently and prioritise workload
Technical Skills:
- Interpersonal and Communication Skills
- Basic Knowledge of SAP or Order Entry Systems
- Working knowledge of Hazardous Material Shipping (All modes)
- Microsoft Office Experience
- Basic negotiation skills
- Understanding of Incoterms and Shipping Terminology
- Language Skills: English and other language(s) as required
- Familiarity with import / export regulations & terminology
Primary Qualifications:
Education:
- High School or Secondary Education
- Associate or University Degree
Preferred Experience:
- 1-2 years in international logistics, freight forwarding, or transportation preferred
