What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head of Engineering Programme Management position at GKN Automotive?
Leading local Engineering Programme Management Team regarding C/D-Phase resource planning, resource management & ensuring execution of standard applications, actively supporting the global C0 Engineering team and product selection process, supporting global alignment for Application programmes (Standard & Pilot Applications) and actively engaging with Engineering Domains as applicable.
- Lead and continuously assess local EPM team regarding C/D-Phase and Transformation Project resource planning, resource management & execution. This includes forecasting resource needs, planning future assignments for the EPM team members, and supporting the Director of Engineering Programme Management with alignment to the Product Plan and 5YP.
- Actively support the global C0 Engineering team and assign Engineering Programme Managers to C0 programme teams to support the CQT and Customer Account Teams in winning new business
- Assign EPM resources to C Phase programme teams. Nominate Engineering Programme Manager, and review programme resource requirements, in support of the EPM recommendations. Ensure resource agreement with the Principal Engineer/Chief Engineer/Technical Project Manager(s).
- Support the EPM to ensure that programme targets are met, and that adherence to the customer specification is ensured.
- Periodically review programme spending with the EPM, Chief Engineer, Director of Programme Engineering and Programme Manager. Assure fully cost transparency in context of project requirements and constraints.
- Support global alignment for Application programmes (Standard & Pilot Applications), including methods and WoW by continuously exchanging with peers, and sharing of best practices.
- Escalate to the Director of Engineering Programme Management, Engineering Domain Directors, and the Chief Engineer when a programme is off-track in terms of: meeting customer requirements, short of required resource levels, off track for spending, or for other roadblocks.
- Escalate through the Director of Engineering Programme Management any issues related to product and process alignment.
- Monitor engineering programme risk and escalate as required to Programme Management, the Director of Engineering Programme Management, and the Chief Engineer.
- Ensure support of SDS - KHT/ESS/CDS projects and assign Engineering Programme Managers to specific projects.
- Ensure that the local Programme Team, in support of the Green Team, adheres to Driveline Excellence System (DES) including Customer Application Programme Management Process (Driveline CAPM), and the approval and rejection of deviations using IPM and/or Stages were applicable
- Drive performance development through coaching, recognition, and the PDP process.
- Support the Engage Me process through action plan development, with the intent of improving overall team engagement.
Essential Qualifications & Experience Engineering Degree or Equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience in product development or adjacent department (e.g. customer account engineering team)
- Product and manufacturing process experience, customer experience, experience in leading teams
- Knowledge and experience within relevant development tools and processes, e.g. Design, CAE, Testing and DVP, FMEA
