Job Summary:
Safely and efficiently drive truck to deliver aggregates to various construction materials plants, customers and bagging facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Pre-trip inspection of tractor-trailer pursuant to DOT regulations. Pre-trip inspection includes checking fluid levels of engine oil, antifreeze, tire pressure, brakes and other driver operated controls for loading and unloading bulk materials.
- Communicate with Dispatcher to receive delivery instructions.
- Upon arriving at a delivery site, the driver must communicate the transport contents and take instruction from the plant operator as to the location where they would like the bulk material unloaded.
- At the completion of each day, turn in all appropriate paperwork.
- Drivers are required to do a post-trip inspection of tractor-trailer pursuant to DOT regulations.
Qualifications:
- Ability to pass a Federal Department of Transportation drug screen and physical.
- Maintain driving record in accordance with Federal and State Motor Carrier regulations and meet company requirements.
- Must be able to take orders, instructions and guidance from management and supervisors.
- Ability to deal with other employees in a diplomatic manner in a variety of stressful situations.
- Must safely operate truck and trailer, performing tasks that follow company policy and are within state and federal laws.
- Maintain Department of Transportation Health Card and have in possession when on duty.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three to five year’s related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement.
- Ability to pass Federal DOT drug screen and physical.
- Valid DOT Health Card.
- Maintain driving record in accordance with Federal and State Motor Carrier regulations and meet company requirements.
Physical Demands:
This work is considered moderately strenuous. There are various postures, movements, lifting and carrying requirements as follows:
- Approximately 75-90% of an eight hour work day is spent sitting.
- Must be able to climb ladders and open hatches on the trailer.
- Must be able to lift, pull, couple and uncouple hoses from the trailer.
