About the Role

This postion can be either in Pocatello or Idaho Falls area:

The real estate closing position requires extensive customer service skills, positive attitude, expressed enthusiasm and the ability to work well with others in a team environment. Candidate is responsible for closing mortgage loans that move through a processing cycle from origination to processing to underwriting and closing. This person must have a thorough knowledge of the bank’s practices and procedures, and the policies, procedures and documentation requirements associated with the various loan programs and must have the ability to meet critical deadlines, effectively prioritize tasks at hand, and work in a team atmosphere. A high degree of accountability through utilization of skills, knowledge and actions that protect the assets of Citizens Community Bank (CCB) and its customers is paramount.

 

This position reports to the real estate loan operations manager. The candidate will work with processors, underwriters, and pre-funding quality control (compliance) staff to prepare closing instructions, settlement statements or disclosures, and final documents.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. TECHNICAL DUTIES
    • Knowledgeable in mortgage software including Encompass 360.
    a. Verifies accuracy of information entered in Encompass 360 and cross-checks final documents.
    b. Verifies information on final automated underwriting system findings match transmittal (1008) and Encompass 360.
    • Ensures all underwriting conditions have been cleared prior to closing, or notifies underwriter if conditions have not been satisfied prior to release of documents.
    • Prepares general ledger ticket when requesting cashiers check for loan funding.
    • Ensures stacking order is consistent and accurate in every file.
    • Ensures lock expiration date is within time allowed for closing, funding and shipping of loan package.
    • Prepares closing instructions
    • Prepares closing documents.
    • Responsible for verifying that there are adequate funds to close the loan.
    • Have working knowledge of pertinent dates that affect the loan file including rescission, disbursement, first payment, interest, etc.
    • Responsible for understanding loan programs (VA, FHA, Rural Development, Conventional) and their corresponding documents including riders, deeds of trust/mortgages, etc.
    • Responsible for a basic knowledge of loan processing, email policy and procedures.
  2. CUSTOMER RELATIONS
    • Knowledgeable on all aspects of the real estate loan process.  Can communicate requests and product information in a manner that is understood by the customer.
    • Responsible for modeling the behaviors that make a customer feel valued when using CCB services in person or over the phone.
    • Make all customers feel welcome and at ease by treating them in a friendly and courteous manner.
    • Research account/loan information for customers and demonstrate that you are interested in their business.
    • Discover the customer’s problems, needs and objectives by making observations, listening and asking questions.
  3. MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES
    • Actively participates in CCB continuing education.
    • Acts as a team member within the within the department by assisting with coverage in key areas and actively cross-training in order to assist in times of staffing shortages.
    • Other duties as assigned.

About You

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have Real Estate Mortgage knowledge and experience and preferably should have at least 2-3 years of experience.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Six (6) months mortgage related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:

  • Foster and maintain a working relationship with internal and external business affiliates, including title company representatives.
  • Read and understand simple Notes.
  • Knowledge of and ability to understand all loan codes.
  • Working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to use listed tools and equipment.
  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective personal working relationships with peers and supervisors.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level.

Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.
