What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tester position at Global Power Components?
Global Power Components is a privately held, growing manufacturer of UL gauge steel fuel tanks, trailers, large generator enclosures and modular metal enclosures for housing fully-equipped electrical distribution and control equipment.
In 2018 we moved operations into a newly renovated 300,000 sq. foot facility on 51
Street that will foster our continued growth as we continue to be recognized as the undisputed leaders in our industry.
Due to tremendous growth, we are seeking an Electrical Test Technician to join out growing team.
Role and Responsibilities
Overview;
Test complex assemblies of low voltage (up to 480VAC) power circuits, control circuits, and ancillary systems. Assemblies are integrated into prefabricated metal buildings and include generators, MCC equipment, power distribution, communications, and building utilities (lighting, receptacles, etc. ).
Candidates must be qualified and competent to recognize unsafe conditions prior to energizing equipment, and to interact safely with live circuits.
Candidates must uphold GPC’s strict quality standards, and cooperatively function within a team of engineers & production personnel.
- The role;
- Prepare test area; deploy hazard communication and reinforce safety policies within test area. Manage testing authorization system (grant / deny access to jobs under test).
- Prepare hot work permits , test forms, etc. Record and organize all test related reports.
- Prepare tests; Pre-check circuits, assemblies, etc. and ensure a safe condition prior to energizing.
- Maintain all test & safety equipment in proper working order, including tools, instruments, cords, etc.
- Reinforce code compliance and workmanship standards.
- Coordinate with QC to document defects and coordinate with production on corrective actions.
- On larger assemblies, work as a team with electrical engineers during test. Must be able to function independently and cooperatively depending on the test.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Electrical-related Associate’s Degree, Technical Diploma, Apprenticeship, or other combination of experience & training.
- Prior experience with live circuits required.
- Verbal & written communication skills. Professional demeanor.
- Attention to detail.
