Global Power Products, a 25 year-old company, is growing its engineering and product development team and is looking for the right Engineer to help us accomplish this exciting business journey. We are actively seeking a low-ego yet high-energy Engineer who can develop our new line of products, lead our existing Engineers, and bring in new talent to add to our growing team.

Job Summary:

As the Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineers, engage as a core project team member, drive early manufacturing involvement, and execute the manufacturing New Product Development (NPD) deliverables while synchronizing with project NPI and plant operations teams to ensure new product launch.


The Engineering Manager will manage performance, resolve conflict, and develop a teamwork environment while ensuring adherence to engineering standards and specifications.


In this position, you will lead the team of NPI Engineers to execute and achieve the scheduled launch date for new products through project plans, risk management, and task lists with clear deadlines.


Responsibilities:

  • Gain and maintain alignment from upstream and downstream support areas dependent on milestones.
  • Collaborate in expediting actions and adjusting resource plans to offset upstream slips in the schedule.
  • Maintain effective resource loading to support all active projects.
  • Identify, escalate, and resolve manufacturing challenges by enforcing DFX principles, including, but not limited to, Design for Manufacture (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Delivery (DFD).
  • Provide coaching and support to teams in keeping their commitments.
  • Regularly provide feedback and ideas/solutions for process improvements, including the New Product Development process and manufacturing processes.
  • Regularly provide feedback and actively participate in improving project management practices within the New Product Integration group.
  • Drive Time to Market Improvements. Ensure Quality and Performance Levels are met for New Product Launches Operate without the need for technical supervision.
  • Perform administrative duties in an accurate, timely, and professional manner.
  • Liaise closely with all levels of production, manufacturing engineering, plant quality, supply chain, safety, NPD, NPI, purchasing, and marketing, providing clear information where necessary. Use relationships to maintain a network to support Production Strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project files and drawings.
  • Partner with human resources management to design, build and implement department training or company training for newly created processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree with an Engineering discipline from an accredited engineering institution OR engineering technology program required.
  • 6 years of experience in a mechanical or new product development engineering role.
  • 3 years directly leading engineering resources.
  • Skilled in coaching and creating measurable KPIs and holding teams accountable.
  • Experience with electrical transfer switches, smart electric meters, and surge protection devices is a plus, but not required.
  • A high degree of design creativity, latitude, and motivation.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of the UL process required to maintain UL certification and record-keeping is required. 
  • Strong experience managing the UL process to acquire UL Certification for new products is required. 
  • Must be structured and organized, with proven ability to lead a team independently within a fast-paced environment with minimal task structure.
  • Experience in building a new gating and NPD process.
  • Experience interacting with cross-functional teams throughout a gated product development process.
  • Knowledge of evaluating and designing products involving electrical, software, and mechanical cross-disciplinary principles.
  • Knowledge and experience in multiple manufacturing processes, including assembly, injection molding, stamping and/or finishing.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Products (Word, Outlook, Project, Visio, Planner, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Video teleconferencing experience with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and WebEx.
  • Trained in using DFMA techniques and software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to clearly communicate with engineering, technical support, sales, and management.
  • Ability to demonstrate problem-solving using logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills, with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience in Fusion 360 and Inventor software is a plus, but not required.
  • Any of the following Certifications: ASQ, JCIE, CCIE, C2, CQE, QC/QA, APICS, PMP, EMC, EMI is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience navigating in a dynamic and growing atmosphere in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrate the ability to build long-term relationships with internal staff, vendors, clients, consultants, and upper management.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing in the factory and at times, sitting at a desk.
  • Must have excellent vision and very steady hand-eye coordination to successfully complete the job; will be working on small, intricate parts and processes.
  • Must be able to hold and operate hand tools.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity to evaluate, test, repair, install, and modify parts/components.

Salary : $92,200 - $117,000
