Job Description: Please note this is a hybrid role requiring 2 days per week onsite in Framingham, MA. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Global External Comms, the Media Relations Manager supports strategy and development of PR and external comms activities in the US. This person will help drive our brand, product, and thought leadership communications with the goal of managing and improving Workhuman’s reputation, brand awareness and brand authority externally. Your responsibilities would include: Establishing and nurturing relationships with key business and trade journalists in the US, and lead inbound requests on a range of issues Driving US media coverage that furthers Workhuman’s key themes and overarching narrative and supports employer brand efforts Collaborating with External Comms team on data storytelling efforts, specifically the Human Workplace Index Crafting a calendar and plan for press releases and other PR engagements to communicate company news, achievements, and events effectively. Aligning with Marketing and amplify global campaign messaging. Securing opportunities to feature employees in the media. Assisting with paid media opportunities. Creating briefing documents and talking points for executive and spokesperson media briefings. Supporting with the promotion of Workhuman Live events. Reporting on wins and outcomes; translate for different audiences. Partnering with marketing, customer marketing, internal comms, product, analyst, and other teams to ensure media efforts are aligned with larger corporate initiatives. Assisting with crisis communication as required. Coaching and supporting senior leaders, including the executive committee/C-suite, and senior executives as spokespersons The Skills you will bring Passion for creative storytelling is key. This person will partner with cross-functional teams across marketing, product, sales, and other functions to drive external communications that educate key audiences on our technology, principles, customers, and personnel. The ideal candidate should: Bring a solid background of driving media campaigns with a proven track record of high-level media contacts/placements Have a strong mix of strategic and tactical communications experience, with an ability to build, own, and implement successful launches and programs. Be able to move fast and collaboratively on a myriad of topics, understand and translate key themes and storylines for media, and bring fresh thinking to modern storytelling across a diverse number of channels. Be an exceptional communicator who is highly organized, agile, and capable of managing a large volume of competing priorities and demands in a fast- paced environment. Have strong writing and verbal skills – with the ability to create a wide range of materials, including pitches, press releases, bylines, etc. Be comfortable managing high-profile, complex stories Have strong analytical skills – with the ability to translate “soft results” into hard numbers that can be shared with leadership teams. Have top notch collaborative skills, with the ability to work with many people at once and be open to new ideas, suggestions, and “in it to win it” together mentality. Achievements 6 years in media relations or journalism. PR agency experience is a plus. Must have nose for news.
