Summary
The General Manager will be responsible for operations and profitability of a newly established project for zero emission fuel cell drayage
through development and implementation of strategies, risk mitigation, and upholding the companys image and relations with customers, employees, and the public. This position is highly visible and a key role in our operations team. The General Manager will manage operational policies, objectives, and initiative, and be responsible for developing and executing safe and efficient drayage trucking operations while maintaining service to our customers and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities
- Primary Functions
- Directly hire and supervise 30 employees (drivers and dispatchers) in the area of container drayage
- Collaborates with the Executive Team in setting and developing organizational vision, operational strategy and hiring needs
- Plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates all aspects of the organization to increasing the value of the business
- Analyzes expenditures and other financial information to develop plans and budgets for increasing profits and minimizing loss
- Negotiates with drivers, warehouse operators, and insurance company representatives for services and preferential rates
- Cultivates and maintains positive business relationships with suppliers, customers, and providers of trucking, shipping, and other transportation services
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Secondary Functions
- Develops and coordinates recruiting initiatives to attract top talent
- Ensure effective professional development, performance management, and retention
- Develops policies and procedures for logistic processes in order to ensure optimization and compliance with established standards and regulations
- Develops and maintains dispatching center operations and business plans to include all programs, P&L and customer requirements
- Tertiary Functions
- Monitors changes in transportation and shipping laws and regulations, and assesses the financial impacts of regulatory changes
- Assesses job markets and stay up to date on hiring trends to recruit top talent

Compensation Range
- $124,000 - $137,000 per year

Education & Experience
- High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 5 - 10 years of operational knowledge and experience in Logistics and Trucking
- Local Port of Oakland experience highly desired
- Valid Driver's License; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred
