Description
GMRE is currently seeking a Technical Writer to support the GMRE Headquarter Engineering Team from Warner Robins, GA. The position will be responsible for all activities related to planning, creating, editing, and authoring Technical Orders, Manuals and Publications for DoD customers.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans and participates in Technical Order Guidance Conference
- Develops and meets all milestones within the Technical Order Development Process
- Reviews, writes, edits, and publishes detailed technical publications IAW associated Technical Manual Contract Requirements
- Conducts internal and external technical order reviews
- Works closely with the engineering team in generating technical instructions for new systems, implementing engineering approved changes to the technical instructions, and publishing new technical instructions
- Processes technical order change requests and performs updates to existing technical instructions
- Creates and maintains engineering materials IAW standards, guidelines, and best practices
- Reviews written materials and ensures the content is clear for end users
- Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Background in mechanical, aerospace, or electrical documentation and/or hands-on experience in an aerospace maintenance field.
- Ability to effectively work with multiple engineering, software, supportability, and logistics disciplines to develop highly accurate technical manuals
- Strong proficiency in MS Office Applications
- Proven experience with SGML/XML, Arbortext, Adobe FrameMaker, Illustrator, or similar tools for editing both text and graphics.
- General understanding of S1000D, SGML or XML authoring software, common source database, and technical publications development processes within an Interactive Technical Manual (IETM) environment.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. SECRET clearance and be subject to a government security investigation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
TRAVEL REQUIRED
- Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position for meetings, trainings, and/or site visits.
