What does a Scare Actor do?
As a Scare Actor, your primary responsibility is to deliver exceptional scare experiences to our guests during seasonal events, including Halloween and fright nights. You will work closely with the Go Ape Scare Squad to bring life to various haunted attractions, ensuring that visitors leave with unforgettable memories of their encounters with you. This role requires a combination of acting skills, creativity, and a willingness to immerse yourself in a range of characters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage guests by portraying various characters and monsters while delivering spine-chilling scares in designated scare zones.
- Prioritize the safety of guests and fellow team members at all times, following all safety guidelines and protocols established by Go Ape.
- Develop and maintain consistent character portrayals, refining performances to elicit maximum fear and excitement from visitors.
- Understand crowd dynamics and adjust scare tactics accordingly to ensure every guest has a thrilling experience without compromising safety.
- Work collaboratively with the Go Ape Scare Squad to coordinate scare sequences, ensuring smooth operations during frights events.
- Interact with guests before and after scares, providing a positive and engaging experience to enhance their overall visit.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining scare-related costumes and makeup to ensure a realistic appearance during performances.
- Participate in promotional events, such as photo opportunities, to enhance guest experience and encourage return visits.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and guidelines throughout all aspects of the role.
Requirements
What are the requirements to be a Scare Actor?
- Must be 18 or older at the time of hire.
- A passion for scaring and entertaining people, with a natural ability to portray characters and deliver frights.
- Experience or a background in acting, theater, improvisation, or performance arts is a plus but not required.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with guests of all ages in a friendly and professional manner.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays for the duration of the Frights event season.
- Ability to follow safety guidelines and prioritize the well-being of guests and team members.
What are the physical requirements to be a Scare Actor?
All Scare Actors must have the ability to
- Wear costumes and makeup for extended periods.
- Stand and walk for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.
- Navigate uneven terrain.
- Work in dark and unlit working environments.

Pay Rate: Starting at $13.00
Pay Type: Hourly
Schedule: Must have general availability to work Friday and Saturday nights (approx. 4pm – 10pm)
Status: Temporary, months of September and October
