Responsibilities
Position Summary: As Body Electrical Systems – Design Release Engineer, you will be an integral part of the team with responsibility to manage and develop systems/components within the safety and sensing area within the Low Voltage Electrical department. The responsibility covers the complete DRE ownership of all electrical systems required to interface with the body and interior functions within the vehicle architecture.
Essential Duties (This list is not exhaustive and other duties may be assigned):
· Lead the DRE activity of restraints control module from initial concept definition through to production launch in adherence to the client Development Process· Generate detailed requirements within the Rivian requirements environment, perform DFMEA analysis, Functional Safety analysis and ensure comprehensive DVP&R for all systems of responsibility· Engage with all cross-functional teams within the vehicle architecture/platform to design and optimize for overall vehicle cost, invest, tooling and mass as required· Work with attribute teams, studio engineering, and certification to ensure all features are captured and executed in line with the product plan requirements· Identify resource requirements to deliver where incremental support is required and lead management of direct or indirect personnel as required to achieve the deliverables· Lead complete life-cycle of specification, supplier engagement and project management of the nominated suppliers· Maintain all aspects of the part data and BoM structure to ensure accuracy within the tools and processes· Support the quality and purchasing teams to interact throughout the program and achieve a common delivery goal· Generate and maintain design guides specific to the area of responsibility to establish a strong data driven process for all current and future Rivian products· Support the Director of Electrical Integration with task management, resource planning and budget planning
Qualifications
· Degree education in Electrical/Electronic (or similar)· Background in electrical design and/or software implementation.· Proven experience of ISO26262· Over 7 years of experience within the automotive industry, ideally OEM or Tier 1 working on Body Electrical Systems· Good interpersonal and communication skills with a high level of integrity· Proven knowledge of automotive design and development processes to successfully develop and launch a vehicle into production· Good working knowledge of all low voltage electrical systems within a vehicle platform· Ability to report to senior management and report accurate information in a clear and concise manner· Strong knowledge of supplier processes, manufacturing and standards
