Goldbelt, Incorporated is an urban, Alaska Native, for-profit corporation with offices in Juneau, Alaska and Herndon, Virginia. Its primary purpose is to manage assets and conduct business for the benefit of its 3,900 Alaska Native shareholders. We are now accepting applications for the 2023 Season. SUMMARY Goldbelt Tram is seeking a Lead Bartender. Under the direction of the Front of House Manager, the Lead Bartender serves drinks, trains bartenders how to prepare drinks in order to ensure guest satisfaction, opens and closes cash drawer, conducts inventory and prepares purchase orders for manager approval.

Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to meet time and attendance requirements.

- Ability to provide quality customer service.
- Thorough knowledge of practices and techniques of mixology and proficient in the operation of bar equipment, and beverage serving. Familiarity with State of Alaska liquor laws. Knowledge of computerized cash register systems, cash collection procedures.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills. Thorough knowledge of practices and techniques of mixology and proficient in the operation of bar and restaurant equipment.
- Knowledge of standard bar opening, operating and closing procedures; liquor laws; computerized cash register systems; cash collection procedures.
- Knowledge of standard practices and procedures related to food and beverage serving, taking/following up on orders and communicating with guests. Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communications and customer service skills.
- Ability to identify and resolve service problems and to handle all complaints quickly and efficiently, in the customers’ best interest.
- Lead by example, including the ability to train staff with little or no prior experience.
- Ability to handle stressful situations in an effective manner; to smooth out problems between staff working the floor and kitchen areas and between early and late shifts. Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.

Minimum Qualifications:
- One (1) to three (3) or more years’ experience as a bartender.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- State of Alaska food workers card
Preferred Qualification:
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- Current Training for Alcohol Professionals (TAP) card.
- Current CPR and first aid certificates
WORKING CONDITIONS Standard restaurant and bar environment as part of an aerial tramway and lift operation at a 1800 ft. elevation; constant exposure to extreme heights, and periodic exposure to dangerous equipment during emergency evacuations or power failures. Constant movement in narrow/confined workspaces and a hot, noisy environment; prolonged standing for extended periods of time. Constant public interaction and communication and must be able to lift/move up to 60 lbs., periodically. The Tram is a non-smoking facility with designated outside smoking areas.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Constantly monitors the bartenders’ preparation techniques and practices, checking the quality, quantity and appearance of the beverage product; provides ongoing training and guidance to bar staff.
- Responsible for serving drinks and providing high quality customer service. Responsible for adherence to standard bar opening, operating and closing procedures. Coordinates sales receipts reporting with the Front of House Manager and bar staff.
- Stocks and maintains par levels in bar; conducts ongoing inventory; prepares orders for approval by the Front of House Manager.
- Assists with setting the bartender weekly schedule.
- Ensures liquor serving laws are being followed; establishes and maintains high service standards including those pertaining to staff and customer conduct.
- Ensures liquor serving laws and TB&G House Alcohol Policy are being followed.
- Ensures workspace and equipment are kept sanitary and in an orderly manner. Responsible for the efficient and effective operation of a limited bar area as part of the tramway restaurant.
- Determines and recommends wine list plus other liquor products offered to guests. Constantly explains proper and standard methods and techniques of food serving, taking and following up on orders, communicating with guests, etc. Handles all guest or staff complaints and minor problems that arise during the shift.
- Maintains high service standards pertaining to customer conduct.
- Maintains order in bar area, promptly notifying management of unruly patrons. Performs other incidental and related duties as assigned by the Front of House Manager.
