We are looking to hire a Full-Time candidate with superb sales and people skills to fulfil the role of a Deli Associate. The ideal candidate must have knowledge and passion for food/foodservice industry with previous retail or restaurant/catering experience and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. This position will work closely and provide support to our grocery chain accounts. You will provide product knowledge and educate the Deli Staff and our customers about the Boar’s Head brand of products. This position requires you to travel within our customers’ locations throughout these cities (Santa Cruz, Salinas, Scotts Valley, Soquel, Freedom)
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Ordering products for the Deli Department to ensure store is fully packed for the consumers
- Merchandise and maintain products on retail cases, shelves and coolers to a neat and orderly manner
- Cutting, wrapping, labeling, and merchandising: cheese wheels, cube cheeses, and large bulk cheeses
- Support the Deli and Store Managers to drive revenue and to meet and exceed daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals
- Deal with customer request, orders, and complaints efficiently and promptly
- Making platters of meat, cheese, catering, sandwiches, salads, and holiday trays
- Work with sharp knives, industrial slicer, and cheese cutters
- Training the Deli Staff on how to cut, wrap, cube, and properly handle our products
- Maintain a clean work environment
- Use of company electronic devices to input customers’ orders
- Uphold the company culture and provide exception customer service
- Follow the company’s health and sanitation, safety procedure and guidelines
- Travel throughout assigned customer locations
Requirements:
- The position requires standing, walking, bending for majority of the shift
- Ability to lift products 20lbs and above
- Ability to push and pull multiple U-Boats with an estimated weight of 300lbs - 800lbs
- Ability to work a schedule of hours that includes an early start time
- Weekend and some holiday work is required
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proper customer service etiquette
- Strong technical skills and working knowledge of electronic products
- Minimum age for employment is 18
- High School diploma or GED or Military Service
- Valid California Driver's License
- Clean driving record

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
