Job Objective:
The Retail Trainer is responsible for providing dynamic classroom and hands-on retail training to entry level employees, conducting orientation, and assisting in the smooth onboarding experience for new employees. This position reports to the District Manager who evaluates performance annually.

Essential Job Functions:
- Travel to various stores in assigned district to conduct orientation and training duties.
- Dynamic communicator with the ability to go through hands on training interaction and ensure new hires experience a smooth onboarding into their new roles.
- Must be able to work well with the Store Managers and their team to ensure the needs of the store are met.
- Complete employer portion of Form I-9.
- Organize employee orientation including introduction to Goodwill’s mission, employee policies, and daily schedule of training topics.
- Provide clear expectations around policies and procedures, directions, coaching and performance feedback to new hires during onboarding and beyond.
- Prepare progress reports of training conducted, effectiveness of training and attainment of goals. Ensure that all designated parties are aware of their progress.
- Coordinate with the Store Manager to understand retail hiring needs, to ensure the store is able to process materials, stock the store, provide superior customer service, operate the cash register and maintain the cleanliness of the store.
- Gather feedback from new hires on the onboarding process.
- Communicate closely with District Manager and Store Manager regarding new hire paperwork and payroll.
- Manage voice mail and email and return calls or messages in a timely manner.
- Manage all other forms of communication in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Communicate with professionalism and respect including both internal and external customers.
- Attend retail meetings and stay up-to date on new information.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Required Education and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to teach and/or group facilitation skills and experience required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of open and closing procedures.
- Knowledge of new employee orientation process.
- Be up to date on policies and procedures and HR knowledgeable.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
- Must have reliable transportation, a current driver's license, and provide proof of insurance to travel to different job sites.
Qualifications:
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Flexible availability.
- Able to frequently bend, twist, reach above shoulder level, crouch or stoop, kneel, repetitively use feet, use head and neck in a twisting or static motion and to look up and/or down, and lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
