POSITION SUMMARY
The Restorative Support Specialist assists the Assistant Principal, Student Services in social-emotional programming and school-level operations. This role demonstrates behaviors consistent with our Mission, Vision and Values, on behalf of Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana.
The specialist will serve as a member of the social emotional learning team, supporting student safety and learning environment and promoting the development of social emotional skills for high school students in a “best fit” environment for teenagers with significant barriers to education.
School priorities include:
- High rigor, high support instruction to close academic gaps and prepare students for post-secondary opportunities
- Trauma-informed social emotional learning
- Student and family empowerment through coordination with a robust Student Services team of coaches, counselors, and more.

Responsibilities
- Plan and implement innovative disciplinary approaches and assist staff in implementing such efforts when appropriate.
- Encourage a constructive, thoughtful climate for learning.
- Promote fairness of students and staff from all cultural backgrounds.
- Communicate with students and staff in an effective manner.
- Assist in leadership of school Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS).
- Help design, manage and implement information systems to manage and track progress on school’s goals.
- Organize safety drill practices and inspections.
- Proactively enforce school rules; oversee appropriate and reasonable student discipline.
- Hold conferences concerning student and school discipline issues with students, staff, and stakeholders, including restorative practices and teaching approach to discipline.
- Investigate reports and respond in ways that mitigate safety concerns and prevent future issues.
- Coordinate the supervision and coverage duties of adults to ensure a safe and supervised environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues to refer and connect students to wraparound supports including Family Empowerment Coaching for internal and community resources, academic supports from the instructional team, Special Education, and more.
- Serve as the liaison between the school and the IMPD officers, both on-site and in the community.
- Serve as the liaison with Goodwill Safety and Security team.
- Support the school community by attending extracurricular events such as athletic contests and family nights.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required; master’s degree preferred
- 5 years of teaching and/or administration experience in public school settings as a disciplinary person
- Working knowledge of public/charter school operations
- Exceptional organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Capable of coordinating the school’s discipline-related operations
- Working knowledge about following discipline codes and student progress
